How much does a resin driveway cost?+
A resin bound driveway typically costs £60–£110 per square metre installed in the UK. An average 40 m² driveway lands between £2,800 and £4,400, less if we can overlay your existing sound concrete or tarmac, more if a new sub-base is needed. Every quote is fixed in writing after a free survey.
What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded driveways?+
Resin bound mixes the aggregate through the resin before laying, creating a smooth, permeable, SUDS-friendly surface that rarely sheds stones. Resin bonded scatters stone onto a resin-coated base, cheaper, but non-permeable and prone to shedding. We recommend resin bound for driveways in almost every case.
Are resin driveways any good?+
A properly installed resin bound driveway is one of the best surfaces available: permeable (usually no planning permission needed), weed-resistant, UV-stable so it doesn't fade, smooth to walk and drive on, and expected to last 15–25 years. The failures you read about almost always trace back to poor base preparation or budget resins, which is exactly what we don't do.
Can you lay a resin driveway over existing concrete or tarmac?+
Yes, sound concrete or tarmac makes an ideal base and keeps the cost down. We assess the base at the free survey; cracked or unstable surfaces are repaired or replaced first so the finished driveway doesn't mirror their faults.
Do resin driveways need planning permission?+
Usually not. A resin bound driveway is permeable, so rainwater drains through it, meaning it complies with SUDS regulations and, unlike impermeable paving over 5 m², doesn't normally require planning permission for a front garden.
How long do resin driveways last?+
15–25 years with proper installation, a correctly prepared base, the right resin-to-stone ratio and UV-stable resin. Maintenance is minimal: an occasional sweep and jet wash.
What colours do resin driveways come in?+
Dozens of natural aggregate blends, golds, silvers, greys, terracottas and near-blacks, which can be mixed and edged to complement your property. Our six most popular blends are shown above, and we bring physical samples to every survey.
Do you install resin patios and paths too?+
Yes, the same resin bound system is ideal for patios, garden paths, pool surrounds and steps. Many clients pair a resin driveway with matching paths for one continuous look.
